True Blend By Joanne DeMaio

True Blend by Joanne DeMaio

382 pages Kindle Format

I received a copy of this book in return for an Honest Review.

Joanne DeMaio has out done herself with this book. True Blend is Joanne’s forth novel and I have been honored to have written a review for each book. I have enjoyed each one more and more every time I get a new book.

True Blend is set in her quaint little town of Addison, while Amy recently widowed and young daughter Grace are still picking up the pieces from this loss.  While across town George Carbone is the all American guy running the family meat market and eatery runs into a difficult situation that throws him off course and into the lives of Amy and Grace.

As Amy and Grace are put through a tragic event will they be able to cope with what is to come or will they have to leave everything behind. While this is a story and a test of True Blend and the story of compassion. Amy will place her heart and soul into her shop Wedding Wishes where the lace of each wedding gown will spin into a story of love in each stitch.

I give this book a 5 Star rating

This was my first Lia Fairchild Novel, I will tell you, when you read this you will not want this book to end… Lia writes with the passion that you are a part of the character’s circle. I felt very connected to each character in my own way, whether I was mad at them a minute or wanting to hug them in the next moment…
Four friends will stand the tests of friendships, and loyalties to each other and others in their lives…
Emily, Jax, Sage, and Ned (Emily’s twin brother) have been lifelong friends for twenty plus years, as they were independent in their own way, it made the friendship even stronger. As adults it takes a little give and take to keep their friendship strong… The girls and Ned will need each other just as much now as they did when they were young.

I’ve been creating stories my whole life, but only for me, in my own head. Then one day I sat down and started to write a book. I completed my first novel, In Search of Lucy, in February of 2011. Seven months later, AmazonEncore contacted me about representing my book. It’s currently in the top 10 for Kindle Drama.

My second full-length novel, Vigil Annie, was released on Amazon in December of 2012! One reviewer called this thriller “suspenseful, well-crafted, and fast paced.”

I recently completed my first romantic comedy, The Tech Guy, now available on Amazon.

My other works include a mystery series (A Hint of Murder) and a short, sweet romance (Special Delivery).

Lia Fairchild is both a traditionally published and independent author who writes contemporary fiction, chick lit, romance, and mystery/thriller. Fairchild was born and raised in Southern California and holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a multiple-subject teaching credential. She is a wife and mother of two teenagers.

Author Interview - Joanne Demaio of Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes

So Bookies - I had the chance to interview Joanne DeMaio Author of recent book Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes.

Author Bio

Joanne DeMaio is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary fiction. She enjoys writing about friendship, family, love and choices, while setting her stories in New England towns or by the sea. Her novels include the New York Times bestseller Blue Jeans and Coffee Beans, Whole Latte Life, which was named a Kirkus Reviews Critics' Pick, and most recently Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes, now a USA Today bestseller.

Joanne lives with her family in Connecticut and is currently at work on her next book. To learn more, visit Joannedemaio.com. She also enjoys hearing from readers at Facebook.com/JoanneDeMaioAuthor.

BooksBooksnMore:
What inspired you to write your first book?

Joanne DeMaio:
Spending time at a little gem of a Connecticut beach called Point O’ Woods. Walking the high tide line there, seeing the seaweed and seashells and beach treasures all interwoven and connected …well, it put life into perspective. I had freelanced for local publications, but one summer, years ago, I felt a personal tide shift. And I knew I wanted to wade out further in the writing waters and take the plunge into novel writing.

BooksBooksnMore:
What books have most influenced your life?

Joanne DeMaio:
I have a small collection of illustrated classics that I love to thumb through:  Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre, Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind to name a few. These are like the “blue jeans” of books … timeless staples.

BooksBooksnMore:
What book are you reading now?

Joanne DeMaio:
I’m actually in-between reads. Because I write full-time, my reading time is primarily focused on research books—spanning topics from fashion design to snowflakes. Now that I’m gearing up to begin writing a new story, I’m on the lookout for some nonfiction to layer my research. Bookstore road trip, here I come!

BooksBooksnMore:
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Joanne DeMaio:
All of my books go through rigorous stages of research, writing, editing, and design. It’s a very immersive process with my publishing team, and so I fully trust my instincts and the decisions made throughout the stages. Once I make a decision, I don’t look back.

BooksBooksnMore:
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

Joanne DeMaio:
Through photography, actually. Long before the pen, my artistic tool of choice was the camera. Photography taught me so much, especially about seeing life through a different lens. It’s amazing how that parallel carries over to my writing now.

BooksBooksnMore:
What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Joanne DeMaio:
Reaching “The End.” It’s always sad to say goodbye to the characters I’ve grown attached to.

BooksBooksnMore:
Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

Joanne DeMaio:
I learned that there are more to snowflakes than meets the eye. And that wishes on snowflakes can be just as magical as on stars.

BooksBooksnMore:
Do you have any advice for other writers?

Joanne DeMaio:
I get asked this question a lot and my answer is always the same: Stay true. Stay true to your writing, your style, your vision. There are so many voices out there, but the one you need to hone in on and listen to for guidance is your own. I never follow a trend; instead, like my characters do, I follow my heart. Through living this writing philosophy, two of my novels this year alone have gone on to become USA Today and New York Times bestsellers. I’m honored and grateful to have reached these milestones, but it started with following my heart. So ultimately, my advice is to commit to your own vision and pour your heart into it.

BooksBooksnMore:
What is your favorite kind of coffee and how do you drink your coffee?

Joanne DeMaio:
Any mild blend, piping hot, with cream. Thank you and coffee cheers, Heather!

I want to thank Mary DeMaio, for the book for exchange of an honest review of the book.

Kindle Edition Pages: 209

5 Stars

I have to say that when I saw the email from Joanne DeMaio that she had a treat for all her email followers, I was excited to receive the email of the Beautiful cover reveal. I was so excited; I knew I had to read this book.

Vera Sterling has come back home to attend her sister’s wedding. Their Father taught them that snowflakes are like little crystal stars to wish upon. So on her way back to her empty apartment and no job to go back to. Vera puts on the brakes and invests in an old Colonial Home and Barn she remembers as a child.

When Vera meets Derek there is always more than meets the eye, He is able to help with fixing the things in the old home. The only thing is he is in need of some mending of his own.

As the house becomes a list of fixes, she decides she needs to look into more income, when finding a box of long ago memories of an old Christmas Shop from long ago. As she uncovers each treasure, wishes and dreams start to come to those in need.

Joanne as written this with such greatness, I am captured by the characters new and old. I love that Joanne is able to combine a little bit shore and closeness of friends and family what that true meaning is.

Christmas is definitely in the air with Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes. Grab that blanket and get your cup of coffee and cozy up next to the fireplace and watch the snowflakes fall with this Great Winter Read!!!
Make your Wishes come True with a Snowflake or Two
